Hanoi tightens drone and UAV management to protect airport safety

Hanoi authorities have issued new directives to tighten the management and supervision of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), including drones and flycams, to ensure aviation safety, particularly around Noi Bai International Airport.

Under the directive signed by Vice Chairman Bui Duy Cuong, the Hanoi Capital Command will review all existing flight permits and coordinate with local departments to monitor the ownership, business, and use of drones. Local military units in areas adjacent to Noi Bai Airport are tasked with forming mobile teams to prevent the flying of kites, balloons, or other objects that could interfere with flight paths.

The Hanoi City Police are responsible for auditing organizations and individuals involved in the production, trade, and use of drones. They will also work to develop registration processes for drone ownership and implement measures to prevent illegal incursions into restricted airspace. Additionally, the city is calling for increased public awareness through local communication channels and is researching technological solutions, such as integrating no-fly zone warnings directly into drone software.
