Hanoi to host 2026 International Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad

Hanoi is set to host the 19th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) in 2026. The event will bring together 320 students from 66 countries and territories, representing 67 teams, including two from Vietnam.

Organized by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training in coordination with various ministries and the IOAA International Council, the competition will primarily take place at Phenikaa University. The academic program includes theoretical exams, data analysis, telescope observations, planetarium sessions, and team competitions.

Preparations involve high-tech infrastructure, including Sky-Watcher telescopes and a 16-meter diameter planetarium. The event is expected to host approximately 490 international delegates, including officials, team leaders, and observers.
