Hanoi to increase car parking fees starting October 2026

Hanoi will implement a new parking fee schedule starting October 15, 2026, for vehicles using public roads and sidewalks funded by the state budget. Under Decision 5794/QD-UBND, monthly parking fees for cars with up to nine seats in central urban areas—including streets such as Tran Hung Dao, Ly Thuong Kiet, Hai Ba Trung, and Dinh Le—will rise from 4 million VND to 6 million VND, totaling 72 million VND per year.

Hourly parking rates are also set to increase from 30,000 VND to 50,000 VND per 60 minutes. While these rates do not apply uniformly across the entire city, they represent a significant increase for owners of fixed parking spaces in the city center.

Experts suggest these changes serve as an economic tool to manage demand for private car travel, particularly in central districts, by encouraging residents to reconsider their frequency of vehicle use and opt for more suitable modes of transport.
