Hanoi to inspect school fee collections in October

The Hanoi Department of Education and Training has announced plans to launch inspection teams in October 2026 to monitor revenue and expenditure at educational institutions. The initiative aims to strictly handle cases of unauthorized collections, specifically targeting the practice of using the name of the Parents' Representative Board to solicit improper funds.

Deputy Director of the Department, Tran Luu Hoa, stated that the department has established a plan to ensure all school fees comply with regulations. School principals will be held directly responsible for financial management. The department has instructed schools not to collect any fees outside of official regulations, nor to collect on behalf of others or organize consolidated collections.

To support these efforts, the department is increasing supervision and providing contact points for public feedback. Authorities are also encouraging parents and organizations to actively monitor school finances to help identify and report any irregularities early.
