Hanoi to provide free health checkups for 2.2 million children

Hanoi is set to launch a free periodic health checkup program for over 2.2 million children and students from August 18 to September 4, 2026. The initiative targets children under 6 years old in preschools and students aged 6 to under 18 in general education facilities.

The city aims for 100% coverage of the eligible population. For children under 6, examinations will include vital signs, nutritional status, mental and motor development, vaccination status, and physical assessments to detect risks such as autism. Students aged 6 to 18 will undergo clinical examinations covering pediatrics, ophthalmology, ENT, and dental health.

Results will be integrated into electronic health records and digital school reports to facilitate lifelong health management. To prepare, the Hanoi Department of Health held training sessions on August 15 for medical professionals and local authorities. Examinations will be conducted by qualified medical facilities, either on-site at schools or via mobile units.
