Hanoi to provide free health checkups for 2.2 million students

The Hanoi Department of Health has announced a large-scale initiative to provide free health checkups for more than 2.2 million children and students across 4,776 educational institutions in the city. The program aims to cover 100% of students from preschool through high school before the start of the new school year.

Funding for the initiative is fully covered by the city budget under social welfare policies. A key component of the program is the integration of health data into the city’s electronic health record system and the Ministry of Health’s shared platforms. This information will be incorporated into electronic school reports to ensure continuous health management throughout a student's life.

To implement the program, Hanoi has mobilized 168 qualified medical facilities. The examination process follows a streamlined one-way procedure including nutritional assessment, mental and physical development checks, and clinical examinations. Results and professional advice are expected to be communicated to parents or caregivers within 24 to 48 hours after the examination.
