Hanoi transitions to modern economy marking 72 years of liberation

Marking the 72nd anniversary of its liberation, Hanoi has transitioned from a post-war capital into a major economic hub for Vietnam. The city's development has shifted from basic production recovery toward a modern model driven by science, technology, innovation, and urban quality.

Following the Doi moi reforms and international economic integration, Hanoi has expanded its infrastructure to include industrial parks, new urban zones, logistics systems, and advanced transport networks connecting the capital to the Red River Delta and the rest of the country.

In the third quarter of 2026, Hanoi's economy showed significant acceleration despite global volatility. According to the Hanoi Statistics Office, the regional Gross Domestic Product (GRDP) grew by approximately 10.02% year-on-year, marking the first double-digit growth rate of the year. For the first nine months, GRDP increased by approximately 8.85% compared to the same period in 2025.
