Hanon Systems ends strike in Székesfehérvár following wage agreement

Workers at the South Korean automotive climate technology supplier Hanon Systems have ended an indefinite strike at the company’s Székesfehérvár site following a successful wage agreement.

According to Zoltán László, Vice President of the Vasas Trade Union Confederation, employees in Székesfehérvár will receive two additional 2 percent wage increases on top of a previous 4 percent raise. One 2 percent increase is retroactive to May, while the other takes effect on September 1.

The agreement also impacts the company’s Pécs site, where workers did not strike but will receive a 4 percent increase starting September 1, following a prior 4.5 percent raise. Additionally, the employer has committed to a one-time lump-sum payment to be distributed with November wages.

Moving forward, the union and management agreed to begin next year’s wage negotiations earlier than usual. The company also pledged to provide more detailed justifications for its proposals and to monitor regional wage trends to ensure competitiveness.

Hanon Systems has operated in Hungary since 1991, with sites in Székesfehérvár, Pécs, and Rétság. The company employs nearly 1,900 people in the country and recently underwent a 43 billion forint development project supported by state funding.
