Lillestrøm SK coach Hans Erik Ødegaard has raised concerns regarding the increasing physical demands and match congestion in European football. Following a derby victory against Vålerenga, the coach noted that his team faces a challenging autumn with upcoming Europa League fixtures alongside domestic league play.

Ødegaard expressed particular concern for elite players in major leagues who must balance club competitions, such as the Champions League, with national team duties. He suggested that the current schedule has 'stretched the rubber band too far' for top-tier athletes. While he acknowledged that his son, Arsenal star Martin Ødegaard, occupies this high-pressure position, he dismissed claims that previous injury struggles were directly caused by workload.
