Hans-Joachim Watzke to discuss Germany's 2038 World Cup bid with Jürgen Klopp in US

Hans‑Joachim Watzke, former CEO of Borussia Dortmund and current president of the club, president of the German Bundesliga and UEFA Executive Committee vice‑president, is a long‑time friend of Jürgen Klopp, who is set to become Germany's national team coach.

Watzke, together with DFB president Bernd Neuendorf, will meet Klopp and his adviser Marc Kosicke in the United States to discuss the German bid to host the 2038 FIFA World Cup and a "Patriotismus‑Abschlag" – a requested reduction in Klopp's double‑digit‑million‑euro salary to help the DFB financially.
