Hans-Jürgen Müller, metropress founder, dies at 84

Hans-Jürgen Müller, the founder of the Frankfurt-based communication and event agency metropress, has passed away at the age of 84 following a serious illness.

Müller was a prominent entrepreneur, journalist, and sports enthusiast who maintained extensive networks across politics, business, and show business. Hanau Mayor Claus Kaminsky described him as a “doer” and an outstanding ambassador for the city, noting that Müller frequently used his professional connections to benefit the Hanau region.

His career began in sports journalism, including a role as head of the “wide world” agency for the Associated Press in Frankfurt. In 1969, he founded metropress, which grew into one of Germany’s first major PR agencies, serving clients such as Opel, Dunlop, and Neckermann. He was also deeply involved in local sports, particularly as a former goalkeeper for 1. FC Hanau 93.
