Hans-Leipelt-Berufsoberschule wins German School Prize
The Hans-Leipelt-Berufsoberschule in Donauwörth has been awarded 30,000 euros at the German School Prize (Deutscher Schulpreis) for its innovative flexible learning concept. The model replaces traditional timetables with self-organized work, where students receive introductory guidance and then work independently, utilizing teachers as coaches rather than fixed instructors. The jury noted the concept's potential for transferability to various educational paths despite challenging structural and financial conditions.
The Bertha-von-Suttner-Schule in Mörfelden-Walldorf received the main prize of 100,000 euros. Five other schools from Baden-Württemberg, Hamburg, Hessen, Lower Saxony, and Thuringia also received 30,000 euros each. The awards, organized by the Robert Bosch Foundation and the Heidehof Foundation, recognize excellence in areas such as teaching quality, performance, diversity, responsibility, school life, and learning environments.
