Hans Vanaken seeks larger World Cup role, eyes Lukaku’s Anderlecht return
Belgian midfielder Hans Vanaken said he wants a bigger part in the upcoming World Cup after providing an assist in Belgium’s win over Croatia. He hopes his performances will make national team coach Rudi Garcia’s midfield selections more difficult and increase his chances of a starting place.
Vanaken also commented on a possible return of striker Romelu Lukaku to RSC Anderlecht, calling it a “dream transfer” that would benefit the club and the Belgian league. However, he noted that Anderlecht’s limited finances make such a move unlikely, as Lukaku still has a year left on his contract and would command a high fee and salary.
