Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt discusses career and Guardiola feud

Former FC Bayern Munich physician Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt is set to be the subject of a documentary titled ‘Der Arzt der Champions’, scheduled for release on October 23. In recent interviews, the 84-year-old medical professional reflected on his career, noting his history of treating high-profile athletes and world champions, as well as former Libyan leader Muammar al-Gaddafi.

Müller-Wohlfahrt also addressed long-standing tensions with former Bayern coach Pep Guardiola. He described Guardiola as ‘unteachable’ and criticized his past lack of respect for the medical department. He specifically cited a dispute regarding the injury of player Thiago, claiming that Guardiola’s decision to seek treatment in Spain resulted in the player being sidelined for a year instead of the six weeks Müller-Wohlfahrt had estimated. These disagreements eventually contributed to Müller-Wohlfahrt and his team leaving the club in April 2015.
