Hansa Rostock sees rapid debut for Kopacz and omission of captain Pfanne
F. C. Hansa Rostock experienced a turbulent start to their season during their match against 1. FC Saarbrücken, marked by both a rapid debut and a controversial squad omission.
New signing David Kopacz made a sudden appearance in the starting lineup just two days after joining the club from VfL Osnabrück. Following a medical check and signing on Friday, the 27-year-old offensive player participated in only one training session before starting the match on Sunday.
In contrast, team captain Franz Pfanne was unexpectedly left out of the matchday squad. Coach Daniel Brinkmann described the decision as a “hard decision” that “certainly hurts,” explaining that he chose to include an additional offensive player rather than a second central defender to increase tactical opportunities. Brinkmann emphasized that the club does not want to lose Pfanne and intends to hold discussions with the 31-year-old captain to maintain their relationship.
