Hanseo University showcases aviation technology for marine protection
Hanseo University’s Glocal University Project Group participated in the ‘Coastal Clean Sea Keeper’ event held at Mallipo Beach in Taean County on September 19. The event, organized by Chungcheongnam-do to mark International Coastal Cleanup Day, brought together approximately 650 participants, including local residents and marine environment organizations, to promote ocean conservation.
As part of its ‘K-Aviation Convergence Win-Win Program,’ the university showcased how its specialized aviation expertise can address regional environmental issues. The university operated two exhibition booths focused on marine protection and plastic reduction. One booth featured the ‘Youth Drone Marine Environment Keeper Project,’ which introduced local cooperation cases for monitoring and collecting coastal waste using drone and AI technology. A highlight of this booth was ‘EcoFetch,’ a marine waste collection drone developed by a student startup at the university.
University officials stated that they intend to expand their aviation-specialized capabilities into practical models for solving regional marine problems and will continue to strengthen cooperation between industry, academia, and local government to foster mutual growth.
