Karim Adeyemi’s Barcelona debut draws criticism from Hansi Flick

German forward Karim Adeyemi made his first appearance for FC Barcelona in a pre‑season friendly against Birmingham City. He started the match, was taken off at halftime and the game ended 2‑2 before Barcelona lost the penalty shoot‑out 3‑2. Flick said “many things were not good” but highlighted the player’s speed, finishing and training performances, adding that Adeyemi still has “a lot of potential” and can give the team much. The transfer was completed for a €22 million fee with a contract running to 2031. Fellow newcomer Hamza Abdelkarim scored twice for Barcelona, while the match also featured a cameo from former Birmingham player Jude Bellingham in the stands.
