Lamine Yamal sets record as youngest player to reach 50 goals
Lamine Yamal has set a new record as the youngest player in the history of Europe’s five major leagues to reach 50 goals. The 19-year-old Barcelona winger achieved this milestone during a 5-2 victory against Rayo Vallecano at Spotify Camp Nou.
Yamal’s performance included a brace, with his second goal coming in the 21st minute. This achievement places him ahead of previous record-holders Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland. Within FC Barcelona, he also became the youngest player in the club’s history to reach the 50-goal mark, surpassing a record held for 91 years by Josep Escola.
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick addressed concerns regarding Yamal’s recent form, noting that the player had been managing a demanding schedule following a significant injury and participation in the World Cup. Flick expressed confidence in Yamal’s trajectory, highlighting his tactical discipline and recent return to peak performance levels during the match.
