Hanuma Vihari criticizes India's bowling after ODI loss to West Indies
Former Indian Test batsman Hanuma Vihari has criticized the national team’s bowling performance following a five-wicket defeat against the West Indies in the third ODI. Despite setting a target of 351, India failed to defend the total as the visitors chased it down in 48.2 overs.
Vihari expressed concern that the team is “going backwards,” noting that the bowling attack appeared exposed without the presence of Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya. He highlighted the expensive spells of Anshul Kamboj, Gurnoor Brar, and Nitish Kumar Reddy, suggesting that inexperienced bowlers are struggling to handle pressure on flat pitches.
With the 2027 ODI World Cup approaching, Vihari urged selectors to reconsider the inclusion of experienced bowlers like Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami to provide reliable breakthroughs during the powerplay and better backup options for the pace attack.
