Hanur shootout: Bodies transferred to home village after post-mortem

Following the Hanur shootout incident, the bodies of three forest department personnel killed in the encounter were transferred from Mysore to their home village on Sunday evening.

The post-mortem examinations, which were delayed due to protests and demands from the deceased's families, were eventually completed at the Mysore K.R. Hospital. The families had initially refused permission for the autopsies, demanding the presence of Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, the Forest Minister, and the Kaveri Wildlife Division officials.

Before the autopsies, police conducted mandatory scanning to detect the presence of bullets in the bodies, a process that was also initially met with resistance from relatives. An FIR has already been filed against the forest department staff, and police stated that the post-mortem reports are essential for a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
