Indonesian political parties strategize for 2029 elections

Indonesian political parties are intensifying preparations for the 2029 elections through various strategic shifts.

Partai Hanura is positioning itself as a ‘melting pot’ for political talent, expressing openness to legislative candidates from other parties who share their vision. To appeal to the significant Gen Z voter demographic, Hanura plans to focus on issues regarding job opportunities and education reform to ensure graduates are prepared for the workforce.

In East Java, PDI Perjuangan is implementing a new communication policy that bans the use of roadside banners to protect the environment. The party is instead mandating that all members from the regional to the grassroots level utilize social media for political engagement. Additionally, the East Java branch has set a long-term goal of securing the governorship in 2029.

Meanwhile, Partai Perindo is consolidating its organizational structure in North Jakarta, targeting two seats in the DKI Jakarta DPRD for the upcoming election cycle through community-based economic initiatives.
