Hanwha Aerospace completes Suncheon space launch vehicle manufacturing center

Hanwha Aerospace has completed its Suncheon manufacturing center in the Yulchon Industrial Complex, a facility spanning approximately 18,000 pyeong. The center is designed to serve as a major hub for the private space economy, focusing on the integration, assembly, and performance verification of space launch vehicles.

The facility will handle government projects, including the assembly of the 75-ton engine and the first, second, and third stages of the Nuri rocket scheduled for launch next year. Future operations will include the production of next-generation launch vehicles, reusable technology demonstrators, and Hanwha’s own independently developed launch vehicles. The company also plans to manufacture core components such as methane engines and propellant tanks at this site.

Hanwha Aerospace aims to enter the global space transportation market by 2029 with its own launch vehicle and intends to launch commercial launch services for the Nuri and next-generation rockets by 2033. To support these goals, the company plans to invest approximately 23 trillion won in the space transportation service sector. This is part of a broader Hanwha Group strategy to invest 55 trillion won in the aerospace and artificial intelligence industries by 2040.
