Hanwha Aerospace establishes US-based LNG entity
Hanwha Aerospace has established a dedicated liquefied natural gas (LNG) entity in the United States, named Hanwha Horizon USA. The new company will serve as a control tower for the group’s global LNG operations, managing procurement, trading, and logistics optimization.
The company aims to build a comprehensive LNG value chain that integrates transportation, supply, and power generation. A primary objective is to supply fuel to Hanwha Energy’s Yeosu LNG power plant, which is scheduled to begin commercial operations in 2029. Following this, the company plans to expand its supply to domestic and international power companies and energy firms, while also entering the global LNG trading market, including Asia.
To secure its supply base, Hanwha Aerospace has signed an LNG purchase agreement with the U.S. producer Venture Global. Additionally, the company has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Korea Southern Power to strengthen procurement competitiveness and diversify supply chains. Hanwha Aerospace noted that these initiatives are intended to bolster energy security and strengthen energy cooperation between South Korea and the United States.
