Hanwha Aerospace unveils K9 artillery evolutions and Chunmoo forum
At the 5th K9 User Club in Tartu, Estonia, Hanwha Aerospace unveiled new evolution concepts for the K9 Self-Propelled Howitzer. The proposed advancements include an operating concept that integrates fire-guidance drones to accelerate the sensor-to-shooter cycle, as well as new wheeled artillery designs to increase platform scalability. The company also highlighted its TOMMS digital sustainment solution, which utilizes predictive maintenance and data-driven logistics to improve fleet readiness.
During the event, Hanwha also announced plans to establish the ‘Chunmoo User Club’ in 2027. This new international forum will connect nations operating the Chunmoo Multiple Launch Rocket System (MRLS), such as the Republic of Korea, Poland, Estonia, and Norway. The initiative aims to facilitate the exchange of practical experience and cooperation regarding training, maintenance, and future capability development among the growing global user community.
