Hanwha and Milrem Robotics partner on uncrewed ground systems

Hanwha Defence Australia (HDA) and Milrem Robotics have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand cooperation on uncrewed ground systems. The partnership focuses on the THeMIS Uncrewed Ground Vehicle (UGV), with plans to support local production, marketing, and sustainment in Australia and the wider Asia-Pacific region, including New Zealand.

Under the agreement, HDA aims to establish an Australian supply chain and local maintenance and upgrade capabilities at the Hanwha Armoured Vehicle Centre of Excellence (H-ACE) in Victoria. Milrem Robotics will provide technology transfer, engineering expertise, and localization planning. The collaboration also includes the potential integration of Milrem’s Intelligent Function Integration Kit (MIFIK) with Hanwha’s existing Redback and Huntsman vehicle families to enhance autonomous navigation and mission execution.

In South Korea, Hanwha will utilize THeMIS platforms for various research and development projects to evaluate advanced autonomous ground capabilities.
