Hanwha Defense USA to invest $2.2 billion in Arkansas munitions campus

Hanwha Defense USA has announced a $2.2 billion investment to establish an advanced munitions manufacturing campus at the Pine Bluff Arsenal in Arkansas. The project, which is expected to span seven years, aims to create approximately 400 new jobs with an average wage of $50 per hour.

The new facility will focus on producing 155mm artillery ammunition components and propellant. Hanwha plans to implement a vertically integrated manufacturing system that covers the entire production process from raw materials to finished products. This initiative is intended to modernize the aging domestic munitions industrial base and expand the United States' ammunition production capacity.

On September 21, officials including Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders and U.S. Representative Bruce Westerman attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the company’s new administrative headquarters at the Arsenal. This office opening marks the first phase of the larger manufacturing campus vision. Hanwha Defense USA CEO Michael Coulter stated that the investment is part of a commitment to strengthening the American defense industrial base.
