Hanwha Eagles manager Kim Kyung-moon to depart club

The Hanwha Eagles have announced that manager Kim Kyung-moon and General Manager Son Hyuk will depart the club following the expiration of their contracts at the end of the current season.

Kim Kyung-moon, who achieved his 1,000th career victory last year, led the Eagles to the Korean Series for the first time in 19 years in 2025, finishing as runners-up. However, the team struggled during the current season due to injuries and poor performance from foreign pitchers and bullpen players, ultimately finishing in 9th place with a record of 57 wins, 82 losses, and 4 draws.

Kim expressed his apologies to the fans during the final regular-season game against the NC Dinos, stating, “I am sorry as a manager that I could not make the team stronger.” The club expressed gratitude for Kim’s contributions to building the foundation for the team’s recent leap. Hanwha plans to begin the process of appointing new leadership for both the managerial and front-office positions immediately.
