Hanwha Qcells receives safety certification for R&D labs

Three laboratories within Hanwha Qcells’ Renewable Energy Research Center in Pangyo have received the ‘Excellent Safety Management Laboratory’ certification from the Ministry of Science and ICT. The certified facilities include the Process Development Lab, the Material Development Lab, and the Analysis Lab.

These specific labs are central to the company’s research into perovskite tandem solar cells, a next-generation high-efficiency technology. The Process Development Lab focuses on verifying efficiency and reliability, the Material Development Lab works on securing materials suitable for mass production, and the Analysis Lab utilizes advanced equipment to identify process issues and support product improvement.

Hanwha Qcells aims to commercialize tandem solar cell technology by 2029. The company stated that it will use this certification to stabilize its safety management systems and foster a stronger safety culture to accelerate R&D efforts.
