Hapag-Lloyd and DP World expand African port partnership

Hapag-Lloyd and DP World have agreed to expand their cooperation in Africa to bolster port infrastructure and secure long-term terminal capacity. The partnership targets key locations including Dakar, Senegal; Luanda, Angola; and Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. Additionally, the companies will support infrastructure development in Banana, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Maputo, Mozambique.

Hapag-Lloyd expects its transport volumes in Africa to surpass one million TEU by 2026. CEO Rolf Habben Jansen stated that the cooperation is a step toward improving the foundations of their service offering in a market the company views as having significant long-term potential. This expansion is part of Hapag-Lloyd’s broader strategy to work with a diversified portfolio of terminal operators while simultaneously growing its own terminal portfolio through Hanseatic Global Terminals (HGT).
