Hapoel Beer Sheva and Sabah FK face off in Champions League play-offs

Hapoel Beer Sheva and Sabah FK are set to face each other in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League play-off round on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. The match will take place at Toto Turner Stadium in Beersheba, Israel.

Hapoel Beer Sheva entered this round as the Israeli Premier League champions, having previously advanced through the qualifiers by defeating Vikingur Reykjavík and Red Star Belgrade. Sabah FK, the Azerbaijan Premier League champions, reached this stage after overcoming The New Saints and KuPS Kuopio, as well as advancing past AGF Aarhus.

The winner of this two-legged tie will qualify for the UEFA Champions League league phase, while the losing team will move into the UEFA Europa League league phase. The second leg is scheduled to be held in Masazir, Azerbaijan, on August 25.
