Israeli basketball clubs seek return of EuroLeague games to Tel Aviv

Israeli basketball clubs Maccabi Tel Aviv and Hapoel Tel Aviv are actively negotiating with EuroLeague leadership to return international games to Israel. EuroLeague CEO Chus Bueno and Competition Director Diego Guillen met with club officials and ambassadors to discuss the possibility of resuming home matches in Tel Aviv.

Club representatives, including Hapoel owner Ofer Yanai and President Stav Saham, reported that discussions were held in a positive atmosphere. Ambassadors provided briefings on the current security situation, emphasizing a return to normal daily routines. To bolster the case, players such as Vasilije Micić, Tomas Satoranski, and Zach LeDay are expected to participate in further dialogues.

Despite these efforts, a rapid change in EuroLeague policy remains uncertain due to the ongoing military and political situation in the Middle East. Currently, Maccabi Tel Aviv plays home games in Belgrade with plans to move to Cyprus, while Hapoel Tel Aviv is using Sofia as a temporary home.
