Japanese gaming industry announces new releases and TGS 2026 plans
Several major video game announcements and releases have been confirmed for the Japanese market. Happinet released the fantasy war simulation game ‘Brigandine Abyss’ on August 27 across platforms including Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. The company also announced its participation in Tokyo Game Show 2026.
Bushiroad and Frontwing Lab announced that ‘Diss Diss Discussion’, a novel game based on stage plays, is scheduled for release in early 2027. The title will be available on Steam, DMM GAMES, DLsite, and Nintendo Switch.
D3 Publisher has opened pre-orders for the digital version of ‘Earth Defense Force 5 for Nintendo Switch 2’, which is set to launch on October 8, 2026. Pre-orders include a 10% discount and various digital bonuses.
