Harabe film crew holds first reading rehearsal in Istanbul

The cast and crew of the independent film ‘Harabe’ held their first reading rehearsal in Şişli, Istanbul. Written and directed by Senem Bay, the project is inspired by real-life events and follows the stories of three foreigners from different cultures whose paths cross in Istanbul, utilizing elements of black comedy.

The film stars Burcu Biricik and Burak Dakak. Biricik, who is also serving as a co-producer for the first time, described her character, Selin, as a human rights activist living in Italy who appears strong outwardly but struggles internally. The international cast also includes Middle Eastern actors Maisa Abd Elhadi and Josef Akiki.

Supported by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism Cinema Support Fund and the 12 Punto TRT Pre-purchase Award, the production aims to bring a unique Middle Eastern setup to the screen despite the increasing difficulties of producing independent cinema.
