Harald Martenstein to lecture in Fulda on German education and language

Journalist and columnist Harald Martenstein is scheduled to speak at the Aula of the Old University in Fulda on August 28. As the recipient of this year’s German Language Prize, Martenstein will address the perceived decline in educational standards in Germany, specifically focusing on the critical link between language proficiency and learning processes.

Martenstein’s discussion will explore why, despite improving high school grades and a vast array of study options, studies indicate a continuous decline in the educational level of German students. He will examine concerns raised by institutions and companies regarding students' insufficient command of their native language.

In addition to his upcoming lecture, Martenstein continues his daily column ‘Mail von Martenstein’ for BILD, where he provides commentary on political and cultural issues, including recent criticisms of NGO boycott tactics and the state of democratic discourse in Germany.
