Harare and South Africa host vibrant music events celebrating heritage

In Harare, Zimbabwe, the monthly R&B Dancehall Lovers concert draws thousands of fans to enjoy 1990s and early‑2000s R&B and dancehall classics. Organised by DJ Juice, the event offers a space for older generations to relive memories and connect with friends. An attendee said, “I come here because the music takes me back to my younger days, the songs bring back good memories, and it is also a good place to meet friends and relax after a busy month.”

In Makhanda, South Africa, musician Bra Mo performed with The Iva Collective at The Black Power Station. The intimate show combined music with storytelling, aiming to raise cultural awareness. Bra Mo emphasized that “musicians should be the mouthpiece for the right reasons,” while Iva Collective member Buntu Duku noted, “Our music raises awareness of people’s identity.” The concert highlighted heritage, community dialogue, and the role of artists in addressing social realities.
