Harbin Institute of Technology launches space science program in schools
The Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) has implemented the ‘HIT Integrated Media Science Popularization Series Entering Classrooms’ campaign across 27 schools in China, including regions such as Guangxi, Yunnan, and Qinghai. The initiative involved more than 3,000 students.
Through the program, students utilized Metaverse courses and 3D technologies to explore virtual environments, including simulated Moon and Mars bases. Educational activities included interactive sessions with AI agents and simulations for planetary rover route planning.
A bilingual Chinese-English book series has also been released as part of the initiative. Titles include ‘The Small Robotic Arm: A Helping Hand for Astronauts’, ‘Yutu & Zhurong: Space Adventure of Planetary Rovers’, and a volume regarding China’s lunar sample collection history.
