Harbin Institute of Technology students and Yudu museum revive Long March heritage

A group of students from Harbin Institute of Technology’s Future Technology College travelled to Sichuan in July to retrace key sites of the historic Long March. The team visited the Anshun field on the Dadu River, the Luding Bridge, the former Moxi conference site and the Tianquan Red Army Memorial, conducting immersive field studies, crossing the iron‑chain bridge and learning about the Red Army’s strategic decisions.

In Jiangxi’s Yudu County, the Central Red Army Long March Departure Memorial Museum has introduced AR and VR technologies to recreate more than 80 historic venues along the Long March route. Visitors experience virtual reconstructions of the march’s challenges, while the museum highlights Xi Jinping’s 2019 visit urging the public to remember the revolutionary spirit. The site also showcases local digital agriculture projects that link heritage tourism with modern development.

Both initiatives aim to deepen public understanding of the Long March, using on‑site experiences and digital immersion to transmit the legacy to younger generations.
