Harbor Hopper ferry service seeks feedback to determine future viability
The Harbor Hopper ferry service, which connects Langley and Everett, is seeking additional riders or sponsors to ensure its continued operation next year. Following a summer pilot program that ran on select Thursdays and Saturdays from June 4 through August 29, the Ports of South Whidbey and Everett have launched a public survey to gather feedback.
The pilot program utilized a 45-seat passenger ferry leased from the Hat Island Community Association and focused primarily on tourism. The survey aims to collect data from both past riders regarding satisfaction with schedules and reservations, and non-riders regarding potential improvements to make the service more appealing.
Officials stated that the feedback will determine future plans for the service. Potential outcomes include extending the pilot period to test different dates and times or expanding the service beyond seasonal tourism, which might require transitioning to a private operator or a transit organization.
