Harbour Energy conducts CO2 storage test drilling in Denmark

Harbour Energy is conducting test drilling at Ørrild in Randers Municipality as part of Project Greenstore, an initiative focused on CO2 storage. The drilling operation aims to reach depths exceeding 3,000 meters to gather data on geological layers, including limestone, clay, and sandstone.

The information collected from these core samples and soil samples, combined with previous seismic surveys, will be used to determine if the underground area is suitable for the safe and permanent storage of carbon dioxide. Exploration Chief Henrik Busk noted that while the initial hundreds of meters were drilled quickly, the process slows down in deeper layers.

To engage with the community, Harbour Energy is hosting an open house event on Saturday, September 19, from 11:00 to 14:00. Local residents are invited to visit the drilling site near Fårup to view the 60-meter-high drilling rig and participate in guided walks to better understand the project's objectives.
