Hardik Pandya ruled out of India's ODI series against England

India's star all‑rounder Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the upcoming One‑Day International series against England after a leg strain and a fresh quadriceps injury emerged during his rehabilitation at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence. The series, slated to begin on 1 July with five T20 matches followed by three ODIs, will proceed without Pandya, prompting selectors to search for a short‑notice replacement.

Pandya, who was assessing his fitness after a back spasm suffered in the IPL, was previously declared fit by the COE, but "after his final session before leaving COE, he had some issues about his fitness," a source said. His absence is expected to affect India's balance in both batting depth and bowling options, especially ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup. The board emphasized that his health remains the priority and that a gradual return to full fitness will be pursued.

The injury also follows the continued sidelining of Virat Kohli with a hamstring problem, adding further challenges to India's white‑ball line‑up as it prepares for the England tour.
