Hardoi official accused of caste-based threats during land survey

A revenue official in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, has been accused of using caste-based intimidation during a land measurement process. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, showing a confrontation in Sakhoura village.

According to reports, during a measurement of leased land, a revenue team led by a Naib Tehsildar arrived to resolve a claim. Gaurav Pandey, who claims his family has cultivated the land for 30 years, alleged that the official asked for his caste and subsequently threatened to implicate the opposing party under the SC-ST Act after learning they belonged to a Scheduled Caste.

The dispute arose when Pandey demanded a full measurement of the land before any trees were removed. Local administration has ordered an investigation into the allegations against the officials involved.
