Recent developments in mobile and computing hardware show a significant industry trend toward reducing weight and thickness without sacrificing screen real estate.

ASUS has introduced the Vivobook S16 (S5652MA), a 16-inch laptop designed for portability. Despite its large 16:10 IPS display, the device weighs 1.5 kilograms and features a thickness of 15.8 millimeters at its thinnest point. The screen offers a 1,920 x 1,200 resolution and a variable refresh rate between 30 and 144 Hz to balance smoothness and battery life.

In the smartphone sector, Samsung is addressing consumer concerns regarding the bulk of foldable devices. The new Galaxy Z Fold8 has achieved a weight of 201 grams, making it the lightest foldable phone available. This was made possible through the use of Flex Titanium technology, which utilizes a titanium alloy film, and redesigned internal components, including metal plates that are only 0.15 millimeters thick at certain points.
