Hardy Alexander Soto Rogel sentenced to 20 years for homicide in Frutillar, Chile
The Oral Criminal Court in Puerto Montt sentenced Hardy Alexander Soto Rogel to a total of 20 years of effective imprisonment. The judgment includes 13 years for a completed homicide and 7 years for a frustrated homicide, along with additional penalties for contempt, threats and less‑serious injuries. The crimes were carried out in the commune of Frutillar during 2023‑2024. In November 2023 Soto Rogel stabbed a man multiple times, causing severe injuries but the victim survived. In July 2024 he attacked again, fatally stabbing Jostin Jesús Gallardo Rivera and wounding Daniel Ignacio Gómez Cárdenas, violating a prior restraining order.
The court also imposed sentences for disobedience of a judicial order and other related offenses, ordering Soto Rogel to serve the full term in prison.
