The Visit Harghita community development association has launched an online gastronomic map to showcase the culinary offerings of Harghita County. The digital platform features certified hospitality units, thematic routes, culinary events, and participants in the Open Farm program, which allows visitors to explore rural farms and food production processes.
A central component of the initiative is the Myrmidone certification. This program recognizes establishments that prioritize sustainability, traditional culinary values, and the use of local ingredients, ideally sourced within a 100-kilometer radius. The map also includes a ‘Signature Dish’ list to promote the region's unique culinary heritage.
The project serves as preparation for 2027, when Harghita County will hold the title of European Gastronomic Region. While centered in Harghita, the initiative also includes several businesses from neighboring Covasna County.
