Haridwar jail superintendent receives death threats

The Senior Superintendent of Roshnabad Jail in Haridwar, Manoj Kumar Arya, has filed a formal complaint following death threats received via phone calls and WhatsApp messages. The caller allegedly invoked the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang to intimidate the official.

Police have registered an FIR at the SIDCUL police station against Himanshu Chaddha, identified as the husband of a female inmate. According to jail officials, the threats followed an incident where the inmate was reprimanded for misbehaving with a deputy jailor. The inmate reportedly instigated her husband during a recent visit.

Haridwar SSP Navneet Singh Bhullar stated that while the caller claimed links to the Bishnoi gang, preliminary investigations have not established any actual connection to the criminal group. Authorities believe the name was used solely to instill fear. Specialized technical and cyber teams are currently working to apprehend the accused.
