Haridwar police officer arrested for bribery

An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) named Sonia, stationed at the Ranipur police station in Haridwar, was arrested by the Uttarakhand Vigilance Department for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.

The arrest occurred after a complainant reported that the officer demanded the money to settle a financial dispute in their favor. Following a verification of the complaint via a toll-free number, a vigilance trap team caught the officer red-handed while she was receiving the payment.

A case has been registered against the ASI under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further legal proceedings are underway.
