Harini Amarasuriya attends food summit in Bhutan and promotes cultural identity

Sri Lankan Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya participated in the inaugural Global Conscious Food Systems Summit in Bhutan. The summit focused on transforming global food production and consumption through environmentally responsible and equitable practices.

As a nation recovering from agricultural policy challenges following an economic crisis, Sri Lanka’s involvement aims to align the country with international sustainability frameworks and draw on global best practices to rebuild its agricultural sector.

Separately, Dr. Amarasuriya addressed an educational and cultural festival in Kurunegala, emphasizing that economic development alone is insufficient for societal happiness. She advocated for the protection of cultural identity and the importance of arts and culture in fostering social harmony and personal fulfillment.
