Haris Rauf expresses readiness for Pakistan Test cricket
Pakistani fast bowler Haris Rauf has stated he is prepared to return to Test cricket for his national team, provided he is called upon by selectors. Rauf, who has not played a Test match since 2022, noted that his recent participation in the President’s Trophy Grade I domestic tournament has helped him prepare for the long format.
During his time in the tournament, Rauf took 18 wickets across four matches, including a five-wicket haul. He previously opted out of a Test series in Australia due to a perceived lack of red-ball experience, a decision that resulted in the termination of his central contract. Rauf clarified that his previous absence was due to a need for proper preparation rather than a lack of desire to play the format.
In addition to discussing his red-ball ambitions, Rauf addressed criticism regarding being hit for sixes, stating that such occurrences are common to all bowlers and do not affect his focus. He emphasized the importance of his role alongside teammates Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah in taking wickets to secure victories for Pakistan.
