Haritalika Teej festival observed with heavy security at Pashupatinath Temple

The Haritalika Teej festival is being observed today by Hindu devotees, particularly women, who offer prayers and worship to Lord Shiva. The tradition involves fasting to seek happiness, peace, and well-being for families. According to mythology, the practice commemorates Parvati’s penance to win Lord Shiva as her husband.

In the Pashupatinath Temple area, security has been significantly bolstered to manage large crowds. More than 2,500 police personnel have been deployed in two shifts, supported by drones, CCTV cameras, and communication technology. By 7:00 am, approximately 9,000 devotees had visited the temple, with thousands more waiting in line. Police services at the site include traffic management, health camps, and family reunification assistance.
