Hariyali Teej 2026 Observed on August 15 with Detailed Muhurat Times

Hariyali Teej, a Hindu festival celebrated mainly in northern India and parts of Nepal, will be observed on 15 August 2026. According to the traditional Hindu calendar, the fast begins at the start of the Shukla Paksha Tritiya in the month of Sawan, with the auspicious Muhurat opening at 04:50 AM and closing at 05:28 PM on 14 August, and the main fasting day on 15 August.

Women who are married (suhagain) observe a fast seeking their husbands’ long life and marital harmony, while unmarried women pray for a suitable partner. The festival is linked mythologically to Parvati’s penance and worship of Shiva, a story that underlies its ritual significance. Celebrations include applying mehndi, singing seasonal songs, and adhering to specific dress and dietary rules.

The festival is traditionally observed in the Indian states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Punjab, and also in Nepal. Families exchange gifts such as clothing and sweets a day before the event to promote household prosperity.
